SUSTAINABILITY – ALTEX AWARDED DIAMOND!

EnviroSmart® a certified 5-tier environmental management system aimed at environmental performance and efficient use of resources and waste management, has a new qualifier – Altex Coatings Ltd!

Run by Landcare Research and sponsored by local councils, Altex worked its way through the program to achieve a number of environmental objectives, starting with the Bronze level through to Platinum and finally Diamond. The only NZ owned industrial and marine paint manufacturer to do so!  By reducing solid waste, using energy, water and raw materials more efficiently, gaining Diamond status now qualifies Altex to proceed with the audit and certification of the international standard ISO14001.

Mike O’Sullivan, Managing Director of Altex Coatings says “the certification holds a lot of credence,  and as a progressive company we have made significant improvements in our environmental performance.  We joined the EnviroSmart® program in 2007 and through dedicated staff and strong commitment now have more effective health,  safety, and environmental compliance in place,  an outstanding achievement for our industry.  By continually monitoring and improving our performance,  our commitment to sustainability has very much become the “Altex way”.  Staff take pride in working for a company which cares about the environment and the community. As a company we are often seen by peers to be taking a leading role within the industry,  and this level of achievement is no exception,  especially in an industry perceived as not being “green” says Mike.

Altex Coatings Ltd, a Resene group company and well established in the Bay of Plenty,  designs, manufactures and sells specialised high performance corrosion protection paints and coating systems for industrial structures and marine vessels throughout Australasia.
