Fireproofing Case Studies

Penrith Stadium
02 Apr, 2009

Penrith Stadium, formerly known as Penrith Park, is the home ground for the Penrith Panthers, who play in the National Rugby League.

With an all time attendance record of 22,304 in a match between Penrith v Parramatta on 7 September 2003, it was decided that the park was in need of an upgrade and therefore a new extension to the main stand was constructed in 2006.

With structural steel open to the elements during phases of construction it was necessary to apply an Intumescent coating that could withstand being exposed for up to 6 months without any additional topcoats. Firetex FX7000 (formerly M77) was chosen due to it being a single pack and like all solvent borne coatings produces a smooth defect free surface.
