When 81 year old Rotorua resident, Doug Foley, heard the news from local Altex Coatings representative, Brian Harris, that Altex Coatings had acquired the Carboline brand from the North American Protective Coatings Company he was overjoyed. Said Doug "I am so pleased for Altex. Carboline was founded in 1947 and have great products like the Carbozinc and Carbomastic ranges and I know they have been used on exotic structures like the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty and the Golden Gate Bridge".
40 years ago Doug was one of the largest uses of Carboline Coatings in New Zealand with his company D.H.Foley Limited. Doug employed forty painters carrying out work in those days at the NZFP Kinleith Mill Tokoroa and Tasman Pulp and Paper Mill Kawerau, Opotiki Dairy Company (milk powder plant) and various Rotorua WWTP facilities and pump stations.
30 years ago Mr. Andrew Webb who was the local Carboline representative gave Doug three Carboline Dress Ties (Photo is showing Doug Proudly wearing his Altex cap and one of the Carboline ties) Now Doug says "the Carboline ties have come home to their rightful owner Altex". 12 months after Andrew gave Doug the ties he left Carboline and joined Altex Industrial Paints, now Altex Coatings, where he has been for the last 29 years and is looking forward to the reunion with Carboline.
So Doug says "Congratulations Altex, you just can’t go wrong with Carboline".
