Seart Bridge Project

At the request of Cake Commercial, Altex was asked to provide a specification for coating steel piles in a tidal zone.  The main requirements were to withstand immersion after 4-5 hours and provide excellent marine exposure performance.

Altra~Max 500 was selected because it its excellent abrasion and immersion resistance as well as its quick curing times.  A blast of SSPC SP10 was carried out followed by one coat of Altra~Max 500 at 500 microns DFT.  On the next tidal cycle the surface was degreased using P40 Pre~Painting Cleaner followed by a second coat of Altra~Max 500 at 500 microns DFT.

The requirements for this project proved challenging at first with many obstacles including weather, traffic and tidal cycles.  However the project was completed to a high standard by Cake Commercial with Altex Coatings who providing the correct specification and inspections of completed work.  A very good outcome for the consultants and all those involved.
