Pleasure Marine Case Studies
Jeff Peronclik – Paintwerx, knows when a quality job has to be produced and so when “Next Tuesday”, a 42ft catamaran, required a repaint of the topsides, he looked no further than Altex Coatings.
Simplicity of the paint system had to be the key to the project. Getting carried away with too many coats of this primer, undercoat, a sealer and finally a finish coat can be very expensive and too confusing for onsite applicators.
After discussing the job with John Garde – Altex Coatings Marine Manager, and settling on a system of cleaning the hull with P40, 2 coats of No 4 Epoxy Sealer and Elite Pro-Spray the project went ahead.
Jeff decided to take no chances with the 42ft Next Tuesday. He knew that whilst the system was simple ad easy to use, quality was still the main requirement of the client. Utilising P40, a completely biodegradable water based cleaner to clean the topsides from salt and other contamination was the first step to a quality job. After all, Jeff knew if you don’t have a good super clean surface to work on, the whole job is doomed to failure.
Two coats of No 4 Epoxy Sealer were then used. The first coat to provide adhesion, and the next to provide a good base coat to sand. After easy sanding, Elite Pro-Spray – the polyurethane for professional applicators was applied.
Jeff was extremely pleased with the sanding properties of No 4 Epoxy Sealer and commented that he would use this and other products on future jobs.
